This Krabi sunset tour sails from Railay Beach on a traditional Siamese junk boat, with time to snorkel around five islands, watch the sun go down over the Andaman Sea, eat a buffet on board and, after dark, swim in glowing water. Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, snorkel gear and national park fees are included, so you can spend the afternoon in the water and the evening on deck.
You meet on the west side of Railay Beach, in front of Railay Village Resort, at 13:30, and board the junk boat for a slow afternoon of island hopping. The first part of the day is active, with snorkeling and swimming at the islands. As the light changes, the boat settles for the sunset at around 18:00, followed by dinner on board and a swim after dark. The tour returns to Railay Beach at about 20:00.
The boat stops at five islands, with clear water and coral close to the surface. Snorkel equipment and life jackets are provided, and kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are available if you’d rather paddle than swim. Nonswimmers can relax on the teak deck or float with a life jacket near the boat.
This is the main moment of the evening. The deck is wide, so you can find a spot with a clear view of the horizon, and the colors usually peak in the minutes after the sun touches the water. Clouds and haze change the sky each day, so no two sunsets are the same.
The buffet is served on the boat after sunset and includes options for different diets, including vegan dishes. Snacks and soft drinks are also included during the cruise.
After dark, the boat stops near Pranang Beach for a swim in bioluminescent plankton, where the water glows around your movement. It’s a special part of the trip, but it depends on the season and sea conditions, so it’s not guaranteed every night.
The tour runs daily. The calmest months in Krabi are roughly November to April, with clearer skies and easier snorkeling. Wear swimwear under light clothes and bring a towel, a change of clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Pack a waterproof bag for your phone and valuables, and a light layer for the breeze on deck after sunset. A camera or phone with a strap helps for sunset photos.
Railay is a peninsula reached only by boat, usually a short longtail ride from Ao Nang or Krabi Town. Allow enough time to get there before 13:30. If you’re staying outside the Railay and Ao Nang area, contact us before booking so we can help you plan how to get to the meeting point.
It suits couples looking for a romantic evening, families who like snorkeling and boat days, and groups of friends who want a relaxed way to see the islands.
